We are looking for a dependable and detail-oriented oral surgery assistant who can adapt to our fast-paced environment and is dedicated to their work.

The candidate should also be kind, approachable, and always empathetic to the needs of the patient and their team members.

Oral Surgery RDA/DA Duties & Responsibilities:

Administrative Duties:

Appointment scheduling, charting, and filing.

Prepare and update patient charts and dental records.

Pre-surgical Preparation Duties:

Prepare and arrange the necessary tools and materials for every surgical procedure.

Ensure that the operating room is prepared in adherence to established protocols for patient safety and efficient workflow.

Confirm consent signed and communicate openly with patients about the procedure without fail.

Ensure that the patient's referral, X-rays, and treatment plan align accurately with the intended surgical procedure.

Follow infection control protocols when preparing and sterilizing surgical tools, materials, and equipment.

Monitor and re-stock supplies as needed.

Assure that instruments and equipment are in good working order.

Surgical Duties:

Prepare patients for surgery.

Monitor patient vital signs during the surgery.

Provide pre and postoperative instruction to patients.

Follow infection control procedures and maintain a clean and sterile surgical environment.

Post-Surgical Duties:

Document operative reports, anesthesia records, and billing tickets with meticulous attention to detail.

Log anesthetics inventory into the medication log accurately.

Maintain temperature, autoclave, and disinfection logs per regulatory guidelines.

Oral Surgery Assistant Requirements:

RDA with oral and maxillofacial surgery experience (preferred but not required).

X-ray license.

Expertise in surgical equipment, instruments, and materials (preferred but not required).

Surgical procedures chairside responsibilities (preferred but not required).

Excellent time management and organizing skills.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Even during times of stress, it is vital to maintain the ability to provide excellent patient care.

Professionalism in both looks and demeanor.

Attention to detail.
