Job Title: Special Education Teacher (6th-12th Grade)

Responsibilities:

• Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities across all categories, ensuring individualized education plans (IEPs) are effectively implemented.
• Create and implement engaging lesson plans that accommodate varying learning styles and abilities.
• Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to promote inclusive practices and foster a positive learning environment for all students.
• Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, attendance, and behavior.
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns or questions.
• Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and other collaborative planning sessions as required.
• Stay informed about best practices in special education and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Valid Special Education teaching license issued by the state of Minnesota.
• Experience working with students with disabilities in a school setting, preferably in grades 6-12.
• Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, and families.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support the academic and social-emotional growth of students with diverse needs.
• Ability to adapt instruction to meet the individual needs of students and differentiate instruction as necessary.

Schedule and Contract Details:

• Monday through Friday, approximately 40 hours per week.
• 184.5 day contract.
