America's Leading ornament manufacturer and a family-owned business since 1976 that designs and creates handcrafted ornaments, keepsakes, and gifts for the white house historical society and the military is in search of an experienced Controller.
Reports To: President
SUMMARY:
The Controller is responsible for directing the financial activities of the organization, preparing financial reports and forecasts, and managing accounting operations. This role will also maintain cost accounting and control systems, evaluate potential savings from proposed changes in manufacturing methods, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, business administration, or finance and experience with Epicor software.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare financial reports summarizing and forecasting company business activity, including income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
  2. Direct budget preparation with forecasting and planning.
  3. Develop overhead cost rates for manufacturing, administrative, and selling departments.
  4. Maintain product cost, cost accounting, and cost control systems.
  5. Evaluate potential savings from proposed changes in manufacturing methods.
  6. Develop and guide financial information related to making or buying decisions with proper monitoring and enforcement of policies and procedures.
  7. Monitor and maintain corporate performance measures.
  8. Manage all aspects of accounting and the company's 401k plan.
  9. Advise management on insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.
  10. Monitor and confirm financial conditions based on regulatory audits and provide necessary information to internal and external auditors.
  11. Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies.
  12. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations by studying existing legislation, anticipating new legislation, and enforcing adherence to requirements while advising management on needed action plans.
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, or Finance.
  2. Experience with Epicor software is a plus.
  3. Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Controller directly supervises employees (A/R, A/P clerks, Accounting Specialist) in the Office Administration Department and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. This position reports to the company President.
