The Resident Concierge provides domestic services for residents that do not require direct patient care in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with current federal and state standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures and, as directed by nursing staff. Works collaboratively to support the Mission and Values of SCBMA.

Requirements:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Respond to resident call lights promptly and courteously according to organization or regulatory entity policies and procedures
  • Communicate observations and resident needs to appropriate staff
  • Pass and collect trays in dining room and to residents in their room, as required
  • Tidy the “Common” area and setup dining room prior to next meal
  • Ensure all areas and hallways are free of clutter and equipment is placed for maximum safety
  • Replenish drinks, water and ice in resident rooms and common area
  • Strip bed linen and remake bed, as directed
  • Tidy, clean and sanitize resident areas such as closet and bathroom and label personal belongings as needed
  • Transport residents and equipment in vehicles, wheelchairs or walking, assist with boarding and exiting and securing wheelchairs and safety belts as required
  • Escort residents indoors/outdoors as requested and permitted
  • Assist residents during admission and discharge, providing physical assistance and help orient new residents to our community
  • Clean equipment such as bedpans, wheelchairs, IV poles, etc. as needed
  • Identify and report malfunctioning equipment immediately
  • Report and record all accidents/incidents immediately
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations from DHEC, Fire and Safety, OSHA, Labor Laws, etc. and adhere to HIPAA confidentiality standards and Resident’s Rights.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • High School Diploma (or GED) preferred
  • Ability to read, speak and understand English
  • 1+ years’ experience in health care, long term care or working with the frail or elderly preferred but not required
  • Understanding of physical and psychological effects of the aging process and ability to be respectful and tactful with potential clients, residents, family members, visitors, medical professionals and general public.
  • Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Compassion for and desire to work with the elderly
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to safely transport and transfer residents
  • Time oriented, dependable
