Early Head Start Teacher

This position is a full time position and is based at the Pope County Early Learning Center in Golconda, Illinois. It does come with a benefit package (including vacation, personal, and sick time accrual, holidays, health and life insurance, and an employer sponsored cafeteria plan). This position is responsible for providing a comprehensive and developmentally appropriate early childhood program for infants and toddlers and developing a partnership with the children's parents or caregivers to engage and encourage parent participation in the program.

Pay Range: $17.31-$22.05 hourly

Qualifications: At a minimum the applicant must be at least 19 years of age with an Associate Degree in Early Childhood or an Associate Degree with an approved related degree with at least 18 hours in Early Childhood or an Infant/Toddler CDA Credential; prefer a Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood with experience in working with infants and toddlers. If the degree is not in Early Childhood, please submit a transcript (this can be an unofficial transcript) in order for early childhood college hours to be determined.

Job Duties:

  • Develops weekly plans and implements age appropriate curriculum to nurture and stimulate all domains of children's development in their care.
  • Provides routines such as naps, diapering, and feeding after discussing parent or caregiver wishes and home routines to ensure consistency of care.
  • Administers developmental screening tool within 45 days of child's enrollment.
  • Completes referrals as needed and participates in IEP/IFSP meetings as needed.
  • Maintains an online portfolio on each child's progress and development.
  • Works cooperatively with Co-Teacher and other staff and volunteers using team approach to classroom management.
  • Assures that all children are supervised at all times.
  • Participates in family style meals and snacks at the table with the children and completes daily meal and attendance records. Holds all infants during feedings that are bottle fed.
  • Completes family staff conferences and home visits as required.
  • Assists families with transitions from Early Head Start to Head Start.
  • Any other duties as requested or assigned to meet the requirements of the Head Start program
