Overview: As a manual machinist, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manual machine tools to produce precision parts according to engineering drawings, blueprints, or specifications. Your expertise in machining processes and attention to detail will contribute to the quality and efficiency of manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities:
Machine Setup: Prepare and set up manual machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and grinders for production runs.
Reading Blueprints: Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, or specifications to understand the required dimensions, tolerances, and materials for machining operations.
Material Preparation: Select appropriate raw materials such as metal stock and ensure they meet quality standards before machining.
Machining Operations: Perform machining operations including turning, milling, drilling, boring, grinding, and threading to create precision parts to required specifications.
Tool Selection: Choose the appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and attachments based on job requirements and material properties.
Quality Control: Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and optical comparators to ensure adherence to specifications and quality standards.
Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot issues with machine tools, tooling, or workpieces to maintain smooth production flow and minimize downtime.
Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged machine parts to ensure optimal performance and longevity of equipment.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production activities, including job setups, material usage, inspection results, and any deviations from specifications.
Qualifications:
Technical Skills: Proficiency in manual machining techniques such as turning, milling, drilling, and grinding. Familiarity with various machine tools and their operations.
Blueprint Reading: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
Precision Measurement: Experience using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, and dial indicators.
Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve issues with machining processes, tools, and equipment.
Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail and accuracy to ensure precise dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes of machined parts.
Safety Consciousness: Commitment to following safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace.
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks in a manufacturing environment.
Teamwork: Willingness to collaborate with colleagues, supervisors, and other departments to meet production goals and quality standards.
Monday through Friday 6am to 430pm
Pay is $21 an hour or more depending experience
