Repairs and maintains all vehicles and heavy equipment as assigned, to include the provision of training for residents.

Requirements

Essential Duties:

  • Exhibits regular and punctual attendance.
  • Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of motor vehicles and heavy equipment to include farm tractors, heavy equipment, buses, trucks, and general-purpose vehicles to include diesel engines and hydraulic systems.
  • Ensures that all motor vehicles and heavy equipment are in safe operating condition and ready for use.
  • Ensures that the shop area is clean, maintained, safe, and organized.
  • Provides training and safety education for residents in motor vehicles and heavy equipment repair.
  • Maintains logs and records related to transportation maintenance activities.
  • Utilizes computer programs and diagnostic software used by our shop.
  • Operates hydraulic automotive lifts.
  • Performs front-end alignment on automotive vehicles.
  • Performs tire replacement and balancing on a variety of vehicles and equipment.
  • Completes monthly vehicle inspections of all fleet vehicles to include headlamps, wipers, fluid levels/conditions, tire tread conditions and air pressure.
  • Complete minor vehicle repairs.
  • Lubricate vehicles as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical components.
  • Exhibits appropriate interaction with residents.


JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalency is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years' mechanical experience is required.
  • CDL with P & S endorsements or will be obtained within 12 months.
  • Experience in repairing and maintaining a wide variety of vehicles and heavy equipment (gas and diesel) is required.
  • Must possess exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills.
  • Bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing/pulling, prolonged sitting/standing.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license.
  • Must be available for travel as needed.
