What you will do:

  • Work with classroom teachers to coordinate and implement high quality differentiated instruction for resource students (State SPED)

  • Assist with coordination of student schedules to ensure all resource students receive the appropriate support; monitor service logs with team regularly (State SPED)

  • Provide student instruction in small groups as needed (State SPED)

  • Maintain accurate student records and keep all student IEPs up to date and in compliance with state requirements; ensure that all necessary reporting is completed (State SPED)

  • Schedule and lead IEP, Triennial, and other meetings as necessary with students, parents/guardians, and teachers (State SPED)

  • Work with Director of Special Education to conduct an annual comprehensive needs assessment for the school’s resource program and make recommendations to school leadership (State SPED)

  • Coordinate with external service providers as needed (Speech, Counseling) (State SPED)

  • Coordinate staff development based on the annual school needs assessment and provide teachers with individual support as needed (State SPED)

  • Assist with monitoring of classrooms to ensure that all resource students have access to necessary materials, accommodations/ modifications are being implemented, and teaching strategies/techniques are used to meet the varied learning styles of students (State SPED)

  • Attend conferences and professional meetings as appropriate and return to share and disseminate information to faculty and staff (State SPED)

What you will need

  • Extensive knowledge of intervention strategies, differentiated learning, and special education policy/resources

  • Strong, demonstrated belief in teacher efficacy and the power of continuous learning; an unwavering belief that all students can learn

  • Skills building collaborative relationships with teachers and administrators at all levels of experience as well as parents, with student learning as the focus

  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Bachelors Degree required, Masters preferred
  • Valid California Education Specialist Credential
  • Minimum two years teaching experience recommended
