We are a first-class, leading Periodontal surgery office looking to add an outgoing individual who is passionate about providing exceptional patient care on a full-time basis in our Reading location. This is an hourly (non-production based) position for 30 hours or more per week.

The Surgical Dental Assistant’s primary role is to support the Periodontist by successfully providing exceptional patient care that results in optimal clinical outcomes and exceeds the expectations of our patients. Surgical Assistants at our practice focus on all aspects of patient care and are exposed to a wide range of dental assistant duties.

We are looking for a fun, hardworking team player to enhance the growth of our practice while continuing to fulfill patient’s oral healthcare needs. If you are passionate about patient care, treating and educating patients, we would love to hear from you!

Role and Responsibilities

  • Deliver compassionate care that exceeds patient’s expectations

  • Review patient medical history, preoperative and postoperative instructions, procedure and treatment consent with patient

  • Acquire dental imaging, including radiographs, CBCTs and 2D photographs

  • Assemble materials and equipment in preparation for treatment and maintain adequate supplies

  • Perform typical pre-operative and post-operative duties to facilitate patient care, including set-up and breakdown of surgical suite in accordance with infection control protocols to maintain a clean and sterile work environment

  • Perform typical operative duties to facilitate patient care, including maintaining an unobstructed field using surgical retractors, sponges, and suctioning and irrigating equipment

  • Prepare, administer and record medications/anesthetic in accordance with all applicable regulations

  • Monitor and maintains aseptic technique throughout procedures

  • Operate sterilization equipment

  • Maintain accurate patient records as required, maintaining confidentiality of all information in compliance with HIPAA

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Active Massachusetts Dental Assistant License, required

  • Active BLS Certification, preferred
