Job Description
Summary

Survey Technician I is a Certified Survey Technician Level I and works as a member of the field crew and is responsible for assisting the Survey Field Crew Chief and Field/Survey Technician II in completing required fieldwork.

Essential Duties
  • Responsible for assisting in the operation and maintenance of survey equipment, taking field notes, data collection, performing calculations, and working with staff on various projects.
  • Understands basic operation knowledge of survey equipment to assist Survey Field Crew Chief and Survey/Field Technician II in completing the fieldwork.
  • Assists in drafting projects using CADD software.
  • Assist in courthouse research as it pertains to projects.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions; ability to perform basic math skills as they pertain to survey work.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Performs mathematical computations using algebra, geometry, and trigonometry to compile raw survey data.
  • Reads construction plans and surveys to make calculations using architectural/engineering scales.
  • Has enough knowledge of survey equipment to be able to assist in taking measurements in the field.
  • Computer skills sufficient enough to assist in working with CADD software, and processing and filing survey data into computer databases.
  • Traffic control and safety procedures for a variety of surveying and construction operations.
  • Communicate with the Survey Crew Chief about problems with field equipment or supplies.
  • Mark points of interest with elevation, station number, property information, and/or property iron.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
  • Valid Driver's License.
Education and Experience
  • Certified Survey Technician Level I.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 0-1 year experience.
  • In lieu of the above, and AB/BS and or relevant experience
