About being our CAD Designer

In this hybrid role, our CAD Designer serves as the first point of contact for CAD users, working both independently and with a team. Our ideal candidate will bring their collaboration and communication skills, along with their high-quality drafting practices and civil design expertise, to efficiently assist with project work and support the team. The focus in this position will be roadway design, utilities, drainage, and survey mapping, and will involve working with a variety of design software such as CIVIL 3D and AutoCAD.

Responsibility Highlights for our CAD Designer

• Set up and maintain CAD drawings throughout the life of a project, including the creation of sheet set manager and plan sheets for multiple disciplines while adhering to Psomas' latest drafting standards.
• Create and modify corridor models, pipe networks, and fine grading, with direction from a project engineer.
• Ensure that the quality of CAD drawings and project deliverables meet the Psomas standards and the project manager expectations.
• Work closely with designers on plan production, including training them on best practices in drafting and design while adhering to Psomas CAD standards.
• Be a steward for CAD standards and supporting Corporate CAD Standards across all Psomas locations (estimated 10% of the time).
• Work as a team player with minimal supervision; resolve project challenges based on project/company standards.

Minimum Qualifications to be our CAD Designer

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 5+ Years of AutoCAD and Autodesk vertical applications (e.g., Civil 3D, Map, Raster Design) relevant to civil engineering and surveying.
• A comprehensive understanding of the design process in the civil engineering industry, including areas such as transportation, utilities, natural resources, and land development.

Preferred Qualifications for our CAD Designer

• Advanced knowledge of Civil 3D and/or Civil 3D Certification
• 5+ Years of Progressive Civil and/or Utilities Design Experience
• Experience with MicroStation

• A competitive salary! The genuinely expected range for this position is $34.00-$49.00/hour depending on experience. Compensation may be adjusted for well qualified candidates.
