About the Role:

Project engineers at BoxPower are responsible for supporting the project engineering manager in research, document creation, and vendor coordination for projects. They also maintain templates for standardized documentation used by the Project Engineering department. Project engineers conduct site visits and run feasibility studies for projects. 


This role reports to the Project Engineering Manager. This role has no direct reports. The salary range for this role is $65,000 to $75,000 depending on experience and extended responsibilities.  This role requires relocation to the BoxPower HQ in Grass Valley, CA.

 

Responsibilities:  

  • Understand the Project Engineering process from the initial feasibility study phase through to the completion of engineering design
  • Assist with the development of engineering deliverables for projects
  • Review customer technical needs and assist in developing specific product/services solutions to meet those needs
  • Coordinate with customers and contractors for obtaining bids from subcontractors
  • Conduct site visits, collect relevant site-specific information
  • Evaluate and combine potential technologies to produce the most effective solar and storage energy solutions for projects
  • Provide technical design and engineering support to the sales team
  • Bid turnkey microgrid projects
  • Provide technical drafting documentation for proposals


Skills and Qualifications:

 

   Requirements:

  • BS in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering (min)
  • Strong, demonstrable knowledge of theory and operation of microgrids and microgrid components, such as inverters, battery energy storage systems (BESS), generators and Solar PV systems
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and manage numerous projects/tasks simultaneously, frequently within an aggressive and compressed schedule
  • Ability to perform data analysis in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients
  • Familiarity with solar, inverter, battery, and generator technologies from 15-250kW
  • Proactiveness, team player and willingness to teach and learn from peers
  • A genuine excitement & interest to see a world powered by renewable energy

 

   Preferred:

  • Must be proficient in technical drawing (AutoCAD preferred)
  • 1+ years of experience using HOMER and PVSyst
  • Data Analysis in Python
