Job Description
Summary:
Supervises and coordinates Accounting office staff in day-to-day activities in maintaining the accounting system and providing all necessary financial statements and management reports.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Supervises all accounting staff.
- Oversees accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue/cash receipts, general ledger, drop and count, payroll, purchasing, and inventory.
- Prepares all periodic financial statements and reports for internal and external requirements.
- Prepares reviews, and verifies for correctness all financial data generated by the accounting staff.
- Reconciles all bank accounts on a monthly basis.
- Maintains and balances the general ledger, and prepares all necessary journal entries as required.
- Provides cash flow analysis including bank account telephone transfer requests and prepares the daily deposit balance log sheet.
- Review the payroll prior to processing.
- Assists in the preparation of the annual budget and monitors budget variances to operating results.
- Reviews and approves invoices for accounts payable processing, including verification of general ledger accounts classifications.
- Maintains corporate wide records for fixed assets. Monitors and reports all obsolete assets and recommends their disposal.
- Assigns special projects to accounting staff as needed.
- Provides written performance evaluations for accounting staff.
- Reviews and approves time cards for accounting department staff.
- Assists internal staff and independent auditors in the preparation of various schedules needed in conjunction with the annual audit.
- Hiring, supervising, and terminating accounting personnel.
- Responsible for distributing reports to gaming commission and gaming inspectors upon request.
- Provides backup for secure keys in the absence of the Comptroller.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages and coordinates accounting staff in day-to-day activities. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required. Gaming Experience is preferred. Must have thorough knowledge of accounting principles and be competent in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
Certificates:
CPA preferred.
