Description:

PURPOSE:

A Master Data Manager (MDM) is a crucial role within an organization responsible for overseeing and maintaining the consistency, accuracy, and integrity of the master data. Master data refers to the core data entities that are shared across various systems and applications within an organization. These data entities include customer information, product data, employee records, vendor details, financial data, and more. With the implementation of SAP, the focus on data governance increases in importance, as a decline in data quality would result in a decline of business process efficiency and effectiveness.

The primary objective of a Master Data Manager is to ensure that all master data elements are standardized, reliable, and up-to-date throughout the organization. This involves creating and enforcing data governance policies, data quality standards, and data management procedures.

The successful candidate is a disciplined professional with good organizational skills and proven experience in data governance and management.



Requirements:

EDUCATION AND/OR PROFESSIONAL LICENSE(s):

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Information Management, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline. MS, MBA, or graduate degree is a plus.


EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in data management, with a focus on master data management. Proven track record of successfully implementing and managing MDM programs. Strong understanding of business processes of a engineering and manufacturing business, data modeling, data quality, and data governance principles. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Government or DOD contracting experience is a plus.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· In-depth knowledge of SAP modules relevant to Master Data Management. This may include SAP S/4HANA, SAP EWM (Extended Warehouse Management), SAP MDG (Master Data Governance), etc.

· Knowledge of Syniti Advanced Data Migration and Management system is a plus.

· Strong understanding of master data concepts and best practices, especially within the context of SAP systems.

· Understanding of data governance principles and the ability to apply them to ensure data quality and consistency in SAP systems.

· Knowledge of integrating SAP systems with other applications and data sources.

· Knowledge of MSSQL programming and data warehouse management and knowledge of QLIK for Business Intelligence reporting are a plus.

· Proficiency in data modeling within SAP, including defining data structures, relationships, and attributes.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues related to master data within SAP.

· Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, business stakeholders, and external consultants. Good presentation skills.

· Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and handle evolving data management challenges.

· High attention to detail to ensure accuracy and completeness of master data in SAP.

· Ability to provide training to end-users and create documentation for master data processes within SAP.

· Willingness and ability to stay updated on the latest SAP technologies and features.

· Solid computer skills, including experience with Microsoft software programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Data Governance: Establish data governance strategies, frameworks, and policies to define how master data should be captured, stored, maintained, and used. This ensures that data is consistent, accessible, and secure across the organization.

· Data Quality Management: Implement measures to assess and improve the quality of master data. This involves identifying and resolving data inconsistencies, errors, and duplications.

· Data Integration: Collaborate with various departments to integrate master data from different sources, systems, and databases, ensuring a single source of truth.

· Data Standardization: Define and enforce data standards, naming conventions, and data models to maintain uniformity and consistency of master data, such as customers, products, suppliers, and locations.

· Data Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire lifecycle of master data, from creation and updates to archival and disposal.

· Data Security and Compliance: Ensure that master data is protected from unauthorized access and adhering to data privacy regulations and industry compliance standards.

· Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with business users, IT teams, data analysts, and other stakeholders to understand their data requirements and address their data-related concerns.

· Master Data Governance Tools: Utilize specialized MDM software tools (Syniti ADMM / SAP MDG) to manage, track, and monitor master data and data quality initiatives.

· Data Training and Awareness: Conduct training sessions and workshops to raise awareness about the importance of data management and data quality among employees.

· Data Strategy and Planning: Contribute to the development of the organization's data strategy and roadmap, aligning data management initiatives with business objectives.

· Stay up-to-date on emerging MDM technologies, trends and best practices.

· Champion, design and implement data management processes with required education and training at the in the organization.


CONTACT WITH OTHERS:

Position requires daily contact with employees, all departments, and management. Has contact with other Gentex locations on a frequent basis.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Works majority of the day in a climate controlled environment.
