Internship - Safety Technician

Fulton Group N.A. is a multinational boiler manufacturer with a variety of market leading products. The company is located in Pulaski, NY which is a short commute from Syracuse, just 30min from the 481-81 interchange.

The internship program at Fulton is a great opportunity for students to work with a multidisciplinary team and gain experience. Fulton touches many aspects of engineering, from combustion technology to electrical systems to heat transfer to turbomachinery.

The Safety Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of environmental, health and safety (EHS) activities for the department to facilitate the efficient operation of the organization in a manner that is consistent with the company values and operating philosophy.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Record keeping – Ensure all OSHA filings and other safety records (such as Safety Data Sheets) are current, maintained and posted in accordance with company policies and Federal, or State requirements.
• Become familiar with all EHS code related and required yearly documents.
• Document workplace injuries in accordance with OSHA requirements.
• Write Near Misses as required.
• Conduct EHS audits in all Fulton NY buildings and follow through with findings with the appropriate parties.
• Become Hazardous Waste qualified to be able to inspect, ship and control all hazardous waste in accordance with OSHA, EPA, state and local codes in all Fulton NY buildings.
• Take direction from Safety Administrator as required for any additional task not listed above.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Certifications and Required Experience):

• Perusing a degree or certification in Occupational Health and Safety or a similar field
• Must be able to handle conflict
• Proficient in creating documents, spreadsheets and presentations using Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point

• Continuous improvement – Continuously improve process efficiency and EHS knowledge to exceed customer expectations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to perform light work including the occasional exertion of 20 lbs or less.
• Moderate to heavy walking required.
• Vision - Visual acuity is required for multiple tasks in this job.
