Welder / High Elements Staff

Overview of Position

This is a full-time, year-round, non-exempt (hourly) position.  It includes benefits.  The primary function is to work on tasks as assigned by his/her supervisor. The person in this position will help maintain all the high elements apparatus at the Kanakuk Kamps. He/she will help build new high elements when directed. He/she will be the primary welder for Kanakuk Kamps and will work on projects as assigned.  

Hours are 7:00 – 3:30 M-F during the “off” season; however, during the camp season overtime will be expected and weekends may be scheduled.  

Description of Duties

•    Inspect, identify, and prioritize needs and repairs. The person in this position should be able to know exactly what needs to be done in his area at any given time and have a plan for how to complete the needed tasks.
•    Organize how to complete projects and repairs and communicate this schedule to leadership.
•    Develop and maintain inventory for current and upcoming jobs.  Time should not be wasted waiting on supplies for a job.
•    Accurately code time sheets. There should be few to no mistakes in these documents.
•    Should be able to maintain and update records.

•    Good communication skills.  This person should be able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.  
•    Good decision-making skills.  He/she should be able to take in all the information and make decisions that will accomplish the desired goals most efficiently and logically.  Maintenance and construction best practices should be known and used in all circumstances.
•    Good supervisory skills.  This person needs to be able to supervise and coach employees well.  He/she should be good at delegation, training, and conflict management.
•    Ability to work at heights.

•    Understand and work within guidelines.  Company policy and guidelines should be known and followed.  Safety practices should be respected and always followed.  
•    Self–motivated.  This position will require a person with initiative and a good eye for what needs to be done.  Though his/her supervisor will assign jobs, he/she should be able to see what needs to be done and move forward without getting instructions on each step.
•    Organization.  Time should also be organized so there is not a lot of “down” time, but work time is spent productively.
•    Be prompt and accountable; work hours as assigned.

Qualifications:
•    High School diploma or GED
•    Welding and High Elements Inspector certifications.
•    Must be 21 years of age.
