Stepping Stones Childcare by Switchpoint is seeking Early Childhood Education Classroom Teaching Aide/Receptionist

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SWITCHPOINT’S STEPPING STONES CHILD CARE CENTER IS SEEKING EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION TEACHING AIDES FOR THE INFANT/TODDLER CLASSROOM(S):

Stepping Stones childcare center is in search of qualified early childhood educators to help monitor and lead developmentally activities throughout the day. Help kids engage in tasks and educational learning activities designed to promote overall child development and reaching developmental milestones across all domains of development including physical, social emotional, cognitive, language, and self-help skills. This job will help you develop excellent skills and techniques that can benefit you in your career in the field of child development and early childhood education.


Job Responsibilities:

  • The Classroom Teaching Aide works cooperatively as a member of a classroom team in partnership with the Lead and Assistant Teacher to deliver high-quality services for all children and families, and is responsible for the safety, supervision, and activities of children in care.
  • Assist in conducting daily environmental safety checklists in the indoor classroom environment and outdoor environment to ensure adequate health and safety for the children in care. Report any items that need repaired or attention to the Director.
  • Ensure that the classroom environment is healthy, safe, clean, and engaging for children in care.
  • Complete daily logs, communicate with families through the family engagement app by sending progress notes and information to the child’s families while in care each day. Complete required documentation and daily activity logs for all children in care.
  • Track attendance, meals and snacks for each child and required documentation for the CACFP food program.
  • Attend required annual training and professional development opportunities provided by Stepping Stones Child Care.
  • Will cover planning and meal break times for the classroom team and assist in various classrooms as assigned each day.

Receptionist Responsibilities include:

  • Provide professional environment, as the first point of contact to greet children, families and guests with a warm, friendly demeanor; and answer their questions for families and/or visitors.
  • Ability to work with a highly diverse population.
  • Must be able to pass a Utah Child Care Licensing Background Check
  • Calm under pressure.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and direct calls and messages. Learn to use the intercom system. Maintain a pleasant, smiling, and professional phone voice.
  • Take and distribute phone messages; transfer phone calls through the center.
  • Fluent in English language both spoken and written. Bi-lingual is a bonus: Spanish.
  • Ability to work pleasantly and professionally work with teachers and to show empathy and understanding for young children and their parents.
  • Highly organized and discrete, while maintaining confidential and general paperwork.
  • Must be computer proficient and able to type. Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel is preferred.
  • Must be discreetly able to screen visitors, use good judgment and provide safe environment in the center.
  • Record all compliance documents for the school including but not limited to: fire drills, illness/accident forms
  • Maintain daily attendance records/paperwork as needed
  • Use the copier and learn to use and maintain it (keep filled w paper, staples, etc.)
  • Inventory and ordering of office supplies
  • Assist Director and management team with other tasks as needed.
  • Mailings (school emailing’s and regular mail), as needed
  • A High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Preference may be given to individuals with a high typing proficiency or formal computer training.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal laws of governing child care.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and work ethic always.
  • Ability to work as a team member with other staff and with families of children in care.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must pass a Utah Child Care Licensing Background Check.
  • Obtain required training upon hire per Utah Child Care Licensing: Preservice training that consists of 2.5 hours of training before assuming assistant director duties.
  • Complete 20 Hours of annual training or at least 1-1/2 hours of childcare training including Utah Child Care Licensing topics, career ladder courses on: child development, ages and stages administration, director’s toolbox endorsement, working with families, culturally and linguistically appropriate practices to meet the developmental needs of children and understanding appropriate practices to engage with families.
    • Complete and maintain current CPR/First Aid and Food Handlers Permit certifications.
    • Must be available to work a flexible schedule to meet the childcare needs of families.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Early childhood care and education experience with children ages birth to twelve.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal laws governing child care.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and work ethic always.
  • Ability to work as a team member with other staff and with families of children in care.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Required to be enrolled (upon hire) in an Infant/Toddler or Preschool Child Development Associate

Credential (CDA) program to be completed within one year.

 

Licensing topics, career ladder courses on: child development, ages and stages administration, director’s toolbox endorsement, working with families, culturally and linguistically appropriate practices to meet the developmental needs of children and understanding appropriate practices to engage with families.

  • Complete and maintain current CPR/First Aid and Food Handlers Permit certifications.
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule to meet the child care needs of families.


PREFERRED SKILLS

Previous experience in an early childhood and care setting.

Previous knowledge of Utah Child Care Licensing rules and regulations.

Previous experience working with at risk children and families preferred.

Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.
