This position supports the Acquisition Readiness (AR) Performance Assessment (PA) Information Technology Support Services (ITSS) contract out at NSWC Corona. The NSWC Corona Division organizes its efforts into specialized technical capability areas, which include Warfare Systems Performance Assessment, Acquisition and Readiness Assessment. Corona Division provides a disciplined process for measuring and managing material readiness using custom tools, databases, data lakes, data warehouses and business intelligence interfaces in order to provide authoritative metrics, trends, and drivers. Additionally, Corona Division provides quantitative performance assessment using custom analysis tools to process and visualize data for the US Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard combat systems (including sensors, track management and weapon interface), fleet interoperability and weapon systems and provide analysis products to sponsor decision makers.

These technical capabilities span multiple technical departments. The technical capability areas, coupled with complementary business capabilities, compose a collaborative work environment dedicated to providing objective information and assessment products, defense systems analysis and evaluation expertise, and related technology toprogram offices, defense-related support infrastructure, and operating forces.


The database engineer will be responsible for supporting the Material Readiness Assessment Information Systems at Naval Surface Warfare Center (Corona). Information assurance support will form an important part of the responsibilities.


As a developer on this project, you will be part of a team of developers supporting an enterprise application. The ability to identify, communicate, and resolve technical issues is important in all aspects of this role. As with any position, additional expectations exist. Some of these are, but are not limited to, adhering to normal working hours, meeting deadlines, following company policies as outlined by the Employee Handbook, communicating regularly with assigned supervisor, and staying focused on the assigned tasks.


Responsibilities:


Experience in database design and administration

Experience in C++ and object-oriented programming

Experience with full stack development, including application, API, testing, and automation experience



Experience with the following:


Python, SQL, XML, Git (version control)

Multi-threaded application development

Application security best practices

Software and system architecture

Proficiency in open source web application frameworks (Model-view-controller, Bootstrap)

Experience reading legacy code

Experience with object-oriented design and memory management


Knowledge of:


Web user interface design, Database design, Model-View-ViewModel (MVVM) architectural pattern, Object-Oriented programming techniques, PostgreSQL database Principles and practices common to production software development


Basic Qualifications:


Experience: 3- 5 years

Education – College Graduate (Bachelors)

Previous Program - C++, Python, C#

Operating System - Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Database – SQL

MATLAB


Preferred Qualifications:


Version control, code libraries, source control systems, documentation, code reviews, testing tools and methodology, and software release management

Web development – JavaScript, React, Angular, HTML, CSS

Experience MATLAB, PostgresSQL DBMS

JavaScript frameworks (e.g. EmberJS, AngularJS, Backbone.js, ReactJS, or Redux)

Continuous integration server(s) (e.g. Jenkins or Concourse or GoCD, etc.) and continuous deployments

Containerization (e.g. Docker)

Experience with data streaming


This position requires a SECRET clearance. Interim clearances are acceptable.


There may be travel required. While work is mostly performed at the Saalex facility in Corona and at the NSWC Corona facility, you may need to perform work at other NSWC facilities in Greece, Spain, Germany, Norway, Australia, and other areas; and In the field around the world (aboard ship, test ranges, shipyards/ports, open ocean and military bases).
