Senior Cloud/Systems Engineer III

Role Summary:

The Senior Cloud/Systems Engineer III is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining infrastructure with a focus on cybersecurity, including zero trust methodologies and Microsoft integration. This role requires expertise in business continuity, disaster recovery, Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, and process automation. The candidate must have a strong grasp of emerging technologies, platforms, and applications, with the ability to customize them for enhanced security and efficiency. They will also create documentation for administrative processes supporting the infrastructure.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Spearhead technical leadership initiatives for the design, development, testing, and implementation of advanced cloud solutions, providing mentorship and guidance to junior technicians.
• Lead the strategic design, deployment, and management of Azure cloud infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration with Microsoft 365.
• Implement and oversee robust security protocols, including single sign-on (SSO) and multifactor authentication, to fortify system defenses.
• Drive automation efforts for infrastructure provisioning and management utilizing Azure and other cutting-edge tools.
• Oversee the monitoring of system health and performance, with a primary focus on enhancing security posture.
• Assume responsibility for the administration and optimization of Active Directory and Azure Active Directory environments.
• Utilize advanced tools such as Intune and Autopilot for endpoint management and process automation to streamline operations.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive operating system backup solutions for both system and disaster recovery purposes.
• Drive meticulous documentation and diagramming of implementations, ensuring alignment with best practices and planned strategies.
• Play a pivotal role in defining the long-term direction, roadmaps, and standards for technical solutions, aligning closely with enterprise architecture objectives.
• Strategically recommend cloud-based solutions to elevate employee experience, streamline operations, fortify security measures, and minimize potential failures.
• Identify and address single points of failure and areas lacking in resiliency within the cloud infrastructure.
• Contribute to technology evaluation and reengineering efforts, shaping strategy definition and fostering continuous process improvement.
• Lead and oversee the management of projects from inception to completion, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
• Provide regular, comprehensive updates on workload and project status to senior management stakeholders.
• Offer expertise and assistance in troubleshooting and problem-solving initiatives to resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
• Stay abreast of the latest Azure features, services, and security trends, maintaining up-to-date knowledge to inform decision-making processes.
• Develop and maintain automation frameworks for cloud enablement tools, driving efficiency and scalability across the organization.
• Lead and oversee the execution of complex projects to successful completion, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Deliver regular, comprehensive updates to senior management on project progress, workload distribution, and strategic implications for the organization.
• Provide expert-level support in troubleshooting and problem-solving initiatives, offering strategic insights and solutions to address complex technical challenges.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in Azure features, services, and security trends, leveraging this knowledge to inform strategic decision-making and guide the organization towards innovative solutions.
• Spearhead the development and ongoing maintenance of sophisticated automation frameworks for cloud enablement tools, driving efficiency and scalability to meet the evolving needs of the organization.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

• Update knowledge and develop professionally on a continuing basis. Participate in internal and external training and development opportunities as required.
• Perform other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Intune, and Autopilot.
• Demonstrated knowledge in business continuity and disaster recovery planning and testing.
• Proficiency in cybersecurity, particularly in zero trust security methodologies, with relevant certifications preferred.
• Ability to create detailed documentation and data flow diagrams.
• Strong project management skills and the ability to lead and collaborate on multiple projects.
• Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
• In-depth knowledge of Azure, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and automation tools.
• Strong documentation and diagramming skills to convey complex information clearly.
• Preferred certifications include:
  • Azure Administrator Associate AZ-104 & Azure Solutions Architect Expert AZ-305
  • Azure Security Engineer Associate AZ-500
  • Azure Network Engineer Associate AZ-700
  • Identity and Access Administrator Associate SC-300

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a pleasant office environment with minimal chance for personal injury. Frequent mental concentration is necessary for listening and responding to various situations. Must be able to lift and move up to 20 pounds unassisted. Some twisting, bending, and turning is required. Work hours are generally during normal business hours and average 40 hours a week. Some out of town travel may be required.
