Job Description:

The College of Education and Human Development seeks an experienced and dynamic elementary educator to join our Teacher Education program. The department seeks an energetic, collaborative educator to teach undergraduate education courses, give feedback to students in multiple practicum settings, and build and sustain school/university partnerships to advance the mission of the Teacher Education program.
Master's level candidates will be applying for a non-tenure track position; Doctoral level candidates will be applying for a tenure track position.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Teach a full-time undergraduate teaching load of 12 credit hours if tenure track or 15 credit hours if non-tenure track per semester.
  2. Supervise students in field experiences in different practicum locations.
  3. Collaborate with colleagues, students, and local public school personnel.
  4. Engage in service to the university and community; and participate in department, college, and university committee work.
  5. Engage in teaching, scholarship, and service/leadership in accordance with assigned responsibilities, according to faculty designation (non-tenure track or tenure track).

Education and Experience Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  1. Earned M.Ed. (non-tenure track), or doctoral degree (Ed.D., Ph.D., or ABD with a firm defense date) from an accredited institution of higher education.
  2. Current state recognized license to teach Elementary Education.
  3. Minimum of four years of full-time accredited public/private school teaching experience in a regular elementary education (K-6) classroom.
  4. Ability to collaborate and communicate clearly and effectively with others.
  5. Evidence of teaching excellence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience and current state recognized license in both elementary and special education.
  2. Endorsement in early childhood.
  3. Experience teaching in inclusive elementary settings.
  4. Experience with teaching, mentoring, supporting, and providing feedback to preservice and/or in-service teachers (e.g., instructional coach; student-teacher mentor; university supervisor; professional development facilitator).
  5. Experience with teacher performance assessments, such as PPAT and/or EdTPA.
  6. Experience with issues of educational equity and pedagogical inclusion.
  7. Ability and willingness to create and participate in practicum learning experiences outside of the on-campus classroom.
  8. Evidence of effectiveness in using course management systems and teaching online.
  9. Experience working with students from diverse populations.
