Pipeline System / Field Operations Tech – Durango Midstream/Frontier Field Services - SE NM

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the safe day-to-day operations and maintenance of the gas gathering pipeline systems and compressor stations (e.g., field compressor station equipment, pumps, gas compressors, coolers, dehydration equipment, and control systems). Coordinates with plant personnel to minimize the impact of field-related activities on the plant’s inlet volumes. Also responsible for the safe completion of all pipeline repair and maintenance. This position is responsible for safely operating the gathering system in the most efficient manner possible with a comprehensive understanding of the pipeline system and valves.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Safely perform pipeline operations and maintenance activities on pipeline systems including compressor stations, gas storage, dehydration facilities, pumps, measurement facilities, and related equipment which may include, but is not limited to:
  • Startup and shutdown of equipment
  • Pigging operations
  • Collecting liquids
  • Gauging tanks
  • Locating and marking lines when on-call notification is received to ensure pipelines are not damaged by contractors or excavation.
  • Leakage survey/patrolling pipelines
  • Pressuring, purging, and blowing down of field facilities/pipeline system.
  • Operating and maintaining field glycol dehydration systems including dehydrator glycol pump repair; also methanol injector pump repair.
  • Monitoring usage and/or replacing lubricants, fluids, inhibitors, chemicals, etc., as needed to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment.
  • Exchanging information regarding pipeline operations, maintenance, and other activities with public/governmental officials, employees, contractors, customers, producers, and land owners.
  • Completing new and retro fit pipeline/facility equipment installations, as directed.
  • Overseeing or performing repairs of station equipment.
  • Construction inspection, as directed
  • Ensuring all compressors stations are maintained in clean working order and weed-free.

2. Calculate, compile, and/or prepare information and reports including, but not limited to: gas/liquid flow and quality, maintenance and/or repair logs, samples (gas/liquids) information, pipeline/corrosion activities, compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements.

3. Involved in repair of pipeline leaks which may occur and provides input into the determination of whether the repair will be accomplished by clamp or the replacement of a section of line. May oversee and supervise pipeline repair and new pipeline construction, as instructed by the pipeline foreman.

4. Maintains DOT compliance by checking cathodic protection, road crossings and maintaining documentation, etc. Completes routine required pipeline cathodic protection maintenance in order to ensure safe and dependable pipeline operation.

5. Informs Gas Supply of all new drilling and completions and may be involved in working with Gas Supply group on cost estimates for new connects.

7. Directs contract labor when necessary and monitors the activity of third-party representatives when present on company sites.

8. Ensures maintenance is complete on assigned company vehicle.

9. Adheres to safety and environmental policies and ensures others follow safety policies. Attends and actively participates in safety meetings and proactively supports the company safety program.

10. Provides input, feedback, assistance and may provide on-the-job training to peers as appropriate.

11. Performs other job-related duties, as assigned. Assists in measurement, maintenance, or other operations as needed.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Candidate to have a minimum of two (2) years working knowledge/experience with natural gas pipeline equipment, maintenance and operation, or relevant experience/knowledge within an industry that utilizes similar equipment.
  • Preference is for candidates with 5+ years working knowledge of natural gas pipeline equipment, maintenance and operation or relevant experience/knowledge within an industry that utilizes similar equipment.
  • Must be able to work a rotating on-call schedule as needed and respond to call-outs.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and selected candidate must be able to successfully complete the company pre-employment process including background/driver’s license check and be insurable under the Company vehicle insurance policy.
  • Must be able to work and drive in all kinds of weather conditions.
  • Must be detail oriented and have good mathematical skills (ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure; ability to calculate rate, ratio and percentages; ability to analyze operating costs and budget variances).
  • Must have computer experience, with preference for experience in MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately both orally and in written format; must be able to prepare reports to convey information clearly and concisely.
  • Must have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management, staff, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and recognize situations in which confidentiality is required.
  • Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks and projects in a timely manner.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Work is performed in a field compressor site/pipeline setting with exposure to vibration, high noise levels related to loud machinery, and temperature variations. Work is normally performed out of doors in all weather conditions. Personnel must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in performance of work.
  • Performance of work on or around equipment involves periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, and sitting and periodically may require climbing and maintaining balance on elevated working surfaces or working in a confined area; certain work involves repetitive motion while using tools to repair equipment; must have ability to use hands to handle or feel items; reach with hands and arms, including reaching from side to side or overhead, or using arms and hands to exert force to open and close valves.
  • Must have ability to operate tools and equipment as required.
  • Employee must have the ability to lift and/or push or transport up to 50 lbs. The employee may regularly/frequently lift and/or move 25 pounds and /occasionally lift and/or move or transport 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques. Must have ability to occasionally exert pulling force of 130 pounds in opening valves.
  • Must be able to react immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others.
  • Work involves driving a company vehicle in all weather conditions and sometimes over uneven terrain.
  • Works autonomously at varying times and in diverse weather conditions and at remote sites.
  • Work also requires use of computers with exposure to video display terminals and at times there may be a need to work in front of a computer terminal with some repetitive motion associated with data entry and use of a computer mouse.
  • Work involves being on rotation for after-hour callouts during the week and/or on weekends to respond to field operations/pipeline issues.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of the job.

Note: the level at which position is staffed will depend on qualifications and experience.
