Job Title: Lakes Technician I

Department: Lakes Management

Reports To: Lakes Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Grade: 3

Summary Appointed by the Lakes Supervisor and assists with managing the lakes within Hot Springs Village (HSV).

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Regular attendance is required. Work outside of normal hours on occasion.
  2. Conduct all aspects of lakes management as assigned by the Lakes Supervisor.
  3. Operates motorized equipment including but not limited to various boats, backhoes, skid steers, dump trucks (non-CD), pickup trucks and trailers. Must be able to back a trailer.
  4. Load and unload boats, trucks, and trailers that carry heavy equipment, materials, and supplies.
  5. Performs routine maintenance on tools and supporting equipment.
  6. Operates powered and standard hand tools (hammers, circular saws, power drills, table saws, grinder, grease gun, pressure washer, tape measure, squares, etc.).
  7. Inspects and maintains equipment, checks operating conditions, and logs repair needs.
  8. May perform maintenance jobs as required, as well as preventative maintenance.
  9. Keeps shop and equipment clean and organized by performing basic housekeeping and maintenance duties.
  10. Assist with maintenance and placement of buoys.
  11. Assist with repairs and maintenance on boat ramps and boat docks at boat ramps.
  12. Take measurements and calculating the size and amount of material needed.
  13. Assist with removal of debris from lakes.
  14. Look for erosion issues and report to the Lakes Supervisor.
  15. Work with contractors and other departments as assigned by the Lakes Supervisor.
  16. Assist with implementation of fisheries management programs on recreational lakes.
  17. Annual Boat Electrofishing.
  18. Collection of money and distribution of envelopes in collection boxes at boat ramps.
  19. Work with HSV clubs as assigned by Lakes Supervisor.
  20. Have a thorough knowledge of lakes rules and regulations.
  21. Will follow Property Owners’ Association (POA) and state safety regulations.
  22. May be required to drive POA or personal vehicle while conducting POA business.
  23. Other duties as assigned.

Career Advancement This is an entry level position. One year of experience as a Lakes Technician I is required before an employee may move up to the Lakes Technician II position.

Qualifications To perform this job safely and successfully, an individual must be able to always perform each essential duty satisfactorily and with safety awareness. Ability to pay attention-to-detail while carrying out task-in-hand. Ability to look thoroughly at your work to identify and correct errors, spot, and improve weaknesses to achieve accuracy. Education and/or Experience High school diploma or general education degree (GED) minimum. Ability to use and operate heavy equipment is preferred. Experience in working with carpentry materials.

Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Requires a valid Arkansas drivers’ license and a clean driving record with proof of liability insurance.
