Basic Function

Provides advocacy, coaching and job retention support to participants at a community-based work site.

Responsibilities

Coordinating:

  • Provide assistance with coordinating transportation to/from work.
  • Research and implement appropriate accommodations.
  • Serve as ambassador of Paraquad and Vocational Services Program by building positive relationships with employers/site supervisors.
  • Communicate with site supervisors about schedules, assignments, supports and progress.

Coaching:

  • Provide support and tutoring on schedules, rules, duties, facilities and other identified needs, including behavioral and/or soft skills.
  • Support the development of the participants through coaching.
  • Support participants in communicating with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Build on natural supports within the workplace to enhance social integration with co-workers.
  • Support participants until a satisfactory competency level is achieved for the employer.
  • Provide follow-up support services to participants and employers.
  • Inform Manager of progress, concerns, and changes with participant and/or work site.

Documentation:

  • Collect data and record daily progress.
  • Accurately complete all required documentation and paperwork, including log sheets, support plans, goal forms, etc. on or before due date.
  • Complete on-site emergency safety drills with participants on or before due date.

Independent Living Service Delivery:

  • Assist with identifying natural supports in the community.
  • Assist with referrals to other programs as needed.

Miscellaneous:

  • Travel independently to/from community work site.
  • Work a flexible schedule up to 29 hours a week.
  • Protect participant's rights to privacy and confidentiality in all forms of communication.
  • Attend and participate in all required trainings and meetings.
  • Assist with program outreach functions as directed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Training

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associates Degree with relevant experienced preferred.
  • Current Workplace Supports Certification or completion within first 6 months of employment.
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification or completion within 90 days of employment.
  • Obtain vaccinations, health screenings and background investigations as required by job site employers

Experience

  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities helpful
