Are you interested in engaging with and supporting families?

We are seeking a Family Service Advocate/Center Aide at our Chisholm (Rumford) Early Learning Center. A Family Service Advocate/Center Aide is part of a team, providing support and resources to enrolled families in the center. This position is 40 hours and year-round.

  • Pay Range: $17.00-$19.50/hour depending on education and experience.
  • This position is eligible for an additional monthly wage supplement through the State of Maine Early Childhood Educator Workforce Salary Supplement Program. The tiered supplements are currently in payments of $275, $415, or $625 monthly. Visit maine.gov/dhhs for more information.

Essential Duties:

  • Engage with families to collaboratively build partnerships to identify strengths and needs
  • Maintain records, including medical and immunizations for enrolled children
  • Encourage and support family’s engagement in their child’s development
  • Support families in organizing activities, committees, and educational workshops
  • Collaborate with families to establish a source of continuous, accessible, coordinated developmental, health, and dental care

Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum H.S. diploma or GED, with commitment to complete credential in social work, human services, family services, counseling, or a related field within 18 months of hire
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with families and/or children

Other Requirements: Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; considerable stamina to regularly lift, bend, carry and perform other high-energy activities; a valid driver's license; competency with Microsoft Office; ability to function autonomously and as part of a team; ability to obtain and maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications. Pre-employment physical, SBI, DMV, Maine Sex Offender Registry, DHHS fingerprinting, fraud, and federal debarment background checks must be completed upon offer of hire and as a condition of employment; valid driver’s license and travel within the service area is required.
