DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position entails semi-skilled manual work in the maintenance of State Park operations and outdoor recreation within Nockamixon State Park.

The semi-skilled laborer, under the supervision of the Park Maintenance Supervisor, performs semi-skilled work alone or assists a skilled worker. Work involves the use of lawn care equipment and miscellaneous maintenance and gas-powered hand tools in many different tasks. These tasks frequently require the application of skills acquired on the job and vary on a daily basis. A major part of the job consists of custodial-type work such as cleaning latrines, cabins, shower houses, and other buildings. Litter pick-up, emptying trash cans, cleaning grills, and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.


Work is assigned in the form of oral or written instructions and is reviewed upon completion for adherence to standards, completeness, and quality by a technical, professional, or administrative supervisor.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Seasonal full-time employment without benefits. The season runs from approximately March until November at which the employee is placed on leave without pay.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position requires candidate to work rotating weekends on/off shift, approximately one or two weekends a month. Weekend and Holiday availability will be required.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Condition of Employment:
  • This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
