Manager, Annual Giving and Communication Services

The University of Illinois Foundation (Foundation) is the official fundraising and private gift-receiving organization of the University of Illinois (University). It works closely with alumni and friends, faculty and staff, corporations and foundations, as well as campus development professionals to create fundraising programs and opportunities that benefit the University.

The Manager of Annual Giving and Communication Services is responsible for the management and execution of key donor engagement platforms and services, as managed by the UI Foundation. The Manager will administer University of Illinois System-wide donor programs and tools, such as event registration, digital stewardship, mass communication scheduling and fundraising platforms. This position serves with exceptional customer service for all internal and external partners.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identifies, manages, and develops tools and resources in support of University of Illinois advancement donor engagement and events efforts and programs with day-to-day responsibilities in tools and/or software such as Smartsheets, Cvent, Webtools, and the internal CRM system as they relate to the functional area.
  • Directly manages the annual mass communication planning season for all external communications and solicitations. Supervises updates to plans throughout the course of the fiscal year for all projects.
  • Manages donor services and digital communications staff, including hiring, training, goal setting, and performance management of individual team members.
  • Maintains personal knowledge of industry best-practices and recommends adoption of appropriate policies, procedures, and platforms across the UI System as they relate to donor engagement and support. Documents procedures and processes involved in effective execution and support of these platforms and trains others in their use.
  • Leads team as primary liaison between units and Foundation resources to define resources needed, timing of projects and collateral needed for completion. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with campus partners and always delivers excellent customer service.
  • Creates and maintains internal and external documents for training and best practices. Ensures platforms and procedures comply with UI Foundation policy and adhere to other governing policies, such as GDPR and CAN-SPAM Act.
  • Plans, organizes, and delivers regular system-wide unit trainings on available engagement and event platforms. Serves as the subject matter expert on available platforms. Researches trends and best practices to ensure highest quality offerings.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least five years of relevant professional experience.
  • Project management experience and/or analytical experience.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with changing priorities and sometimes moving deadlines.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and the propensity to become proficient in engagement related technical systems.
  • Exhibits development program values of integrity, civility, collaboration, innovation, and impact.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree
  • Annual Giving or other Advancement experience
  • Mass Communication or Email Marketing experience
