For over 40 years, Life Enrichment Advancing People (LEAP) has been supporting people with developmental, cognitive, and intellectual disabilities to be actively involved in their communities. To this end we provide small group and individualized residential services, adult case management and training services. LEAP is a private nonprofit organization with a mission to empower people with disabilities to lead joyful lives with dignity, independence, and autonomy by providing comprehensive and individualized support. A Typical Day in the Life of a Direct Support Professional (DSP)

A typical day as a DSP provides an opportunity to serve our supported individuals, assist your fellow staff members and might include the following:

- Supervise, assist, and instruct supported individuals in activities designed to enhance their independence to include community and social activities.

- Assist LEAP's supported individuals to care for their homes and personal possessions. When needed/directed, perform housekeeping tasks for resident's who fail to do so. Report any unsafe conditions.

- General housekeeping, snow removal, vehicle upkeep and meal preparation.

- Paperwork/reporting/attending meetings, participating in training and other tasks as assigned.


Who You Are:

- Because of regulatory requirements you are at least 18 years of age and have a high school degree or GED. Additional excitement concerning applicants with previous experience as an Ed Tech, CAN, BHP or PSS.

- You have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record.

- You can exercise good judgement and build and maintain sustainable interpersonal relationships.

- You're an empathetic individual who is reliable and meets scheduling commitments.
