Summary: This Fire Alarm System Designer will design low-voltage systems and prepare a bill of materials to be used in the sales presentations.

Essential Duties: Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required.

  • Create designs of low-voltage systems.
  • Prepare a bill of materials for each design and project to present during sales presentations and ensure compliance with project coordinators.
  • Collaborate with multiple internal teams including sales, project coordinators, and technical managers.
  • Meet with the sales team to plan, execute, and deliver presentations.
  • Collaborate with external partners including project engineers and city officials, architects, engineers, contractors, and business owners to discuss any design issues/opportunities and to ensure compliant designs.
  • Perform site surveys of existing low-voltage systems.
  • Review public bid project documents in online plan rooms.
  • Review technical training needs with the Director of Operations to ensure successful installation of low-voltage systems.
  • Collaborate with Technical Managers regarding system designs and code-related questions.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university, minimum five (5) years of related experience, and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) or,
  • Iowa NICET III Fire Alarm Systems or,
  • ESA Certified Fire Alarm Designer

Must be able to pass a background check.
