JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Oversee all aspects of the Women’s Soccer program including but not limited to: 

  • preparation of game schedule.
  • teach sport skills and techniques.
  • devise and implement game strategies.
  • incorporate proper conditioning methods.
  • prepare daily practices and season plan.
  • budget management.
  • order supplies and uniforms.
  • compile and record end-of-season award winner(s).
  • compile and record stats and team records.
  • assist in maintaining equipment.
  • 2. Develop and encourage individual student-athlete and team success by:

  • creating and implementing team-building exercises with special attention to team cohesiveness and sportsmanship.
  • supporting and encouraging the educational pursuits of student-athletes, making every effort to ensure that all student-athletes meet their academic requirements.
  • monitoring student-athletes’ performance based on academic and intercollegiate eligibility criteria.
  • assisting student-athletes in progressing toward a degree in a defined academic program.
  • 3. Recruit academically and athletically talented student-athletes including: 

  • correspondences, written and oral, with all appropriate coaches and students and others.   
  • attend appropriate matches and contests.
  • meet with prospects and recruits on campus for visits.
  • 4. Work towards meeting team/ coach goals in the areas of – team academic performance, student retention, student recruitment, athletic success, and community service.

    5. Adhere to NCAA, Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference and Wells College rules and regulations.

    6. Maintain effective relationships with student-athletics, peers, administrators, faculty, media, parents, and the general public.

    7. Other duties as assigned but not limited to:

  • Fundraising, supervising an assistant coach, attending campus events as appropriate and serving as a member of the academic and student life division staff.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    A commitment to the Mission of the College, the athletic program, the development of character in student-athletes and the academic program.  Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills, highly motivated and organized.  Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules and regulations. 

     

    QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

    Bachelor’s degree required.  Master’s degree preferred. College playing and/or coaching experience preferred.

     

    HOURS OF WORK:

    35-40 hours per week plus weekends and evenings as necessary.  10-month position, August 1 – May 31.
