Purchasing Agent

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Agent to join our procurement team. The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring materials, equipment, and services required for projects, while ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery.

Responsibilities:

• Source and procure materials, equipment, and services required for projects, while maintaining cost-effectiveness, quality standards, and on-time delivery.

• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts, and ensure timely availability of materials and services.

• Review project specifications, drawings, and requirements to accurately identify procurement needs, specifications, and budget constraints.

• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to align procurement activities with project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.

• Conduct market research, analyze supplier capabilities, and identify new sources of supply to improve procurement strategies and optimize costs.

• Manage purchase orders, contracts, and vendor agreements, and ensure compliance with company policies, procurement procedures, and regulatory requirements.

• Monitor and track supplier performance, including delivery performance, quality assurance, and cost savings, and resolve issues or disputes as needed.

• Collaborate with internal departments, including accounting, finance, and operations, to reconcile invoices, resolve payment discrepancies, and maintain accurate procurement records.

• Assist in the development and implementation of procurement policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance efficiency, transparency, and compliance.

• Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and supplier capabilities to make informed procurement decisions and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in supply chain management, business administration, or related field, Bachelor’s degree preferred.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Purchasing Agent or Buyer with a strong understanding of procurement processes, sourcing strategies, and contract negotiation.

• Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and project requirements.

• Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy in procurement activities.

• Familiarity with construction contracts, subcontractor agreements, and legal terms is desirable.

• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities and project requirements.

• Commitment to ethical procurement practices, sustainability initiatives, and diversity in supplier sourcing.

Pay Details: $55,000.00 to $70,000.00 per year
