A bit about us:

We are seeking a Site Safety Health Officer within our Federal Program. As our SSHO, you will be responsible for the management of health and safety, work practice surveillance, safety inspections, and safety enforcement on a single project site. You will also conduct and document comprehensive safety audits and safety meetings, maintain accident and insurance records as required by OSHA, and provide functional advice and/or training to supervisory staff and site workers.

Job Details

Coordinates with project Superintendent and Safety Director in the development and execution of site-specific plans and procedures including but not limited to Accident Prevention Plans, Site Safety and Environmental Orientations, Emergency and Evacuation Plans, Confined Space Plans, Fall Protection Plans, and Activity Hazard Analyses
Ensures appropriate emergency supplies, tools, equipment, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are always provided and in use on site; verifies that tools and equipment are in safe condition
Reviews subcontractor site-specific safety plans; with Superintendent, reviews AHAs; develops and maintains productive relationships with subcontractor team members to facilitation cooperation and compliance with site safety requirements
Coaches and communicates with all workers to gain insight into their work processes and discover if they have noted any site hazards or unsafe behavior and address those behaviors or conditions as needed
Coordinates with the Safety Director the planning for and response to critical or high-risk activities
Conducts safety orientations onsite for all new workers
Performs Supervisory Site Safety Audits and makes recommendations for and oversees prompt corrective actions; maintains records of all inspections
Implements manages, and enforces OSHA standards, industry best practices, Company standards and policies, and site-specific safety programs; issues and documents all safety violations
Leads morning Stretch n’ Flex routines for crews
Conducts investigations of incidents, near misses, and complaints regarding hazardous working conditions or unsafe practices and provides reports, witness statements, and/or video documentation for all investigations
Acts as primary contact and first responder in site emergency situations; coordinates with Superintendent to determine and execute appropriate responsive actions
Cultivate positive relationships with the key stakeholders, customers, designers, and subcontractors
Demonstrate professionalism in resolving issues/disputes and promote collaboration among team
Act in a manner that positions us as a preferred choice for future business opportunities with our clients

What You Offer

Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Safety and Health, Construction Management or similar field of study, or significant equivalent safety-related work experience
A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant safety and health experience is required; prior experience serving on construction job sites in a supervisory capacity preferred
OSHA 30 Hour for Construction course completion
Familiarity with EM385-1-1, if applicable to the project
Current First Aid/CPR/AED and Bloodborne Pathogen certification
Thorough understanding of all federal, state, local, and Company safety regulations
Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures
Ability to serve as a leader and communicate effectively with others to establish positive working relationships and maintain authority and respect on the work site
Knowledgeable with construction industry best practices, procedures, and concepts as well as construction industry contracts and documentation
Familiarity with basic principles of workers’ compensation, general liability, and auto insurance
Willingness to continually seek new training opportunities or knowledge to bring to their position and continually strive for improvement in all aspects of safety and compliance
