Lightning & Grounding Systems/Elec Eng (SME) Tech Sup – (FULL-TIME REMOTE)


JOB SUMMARY:

BB&E is seeking a (FULL-TIME REMOTE) Lightning & Grounding Systems/Electrical Engineer (SME) Technical Support to assist AFCEC/CO at Tyndall AFB, FL.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide engineer support for AF electrical and electrical controls requirements/projects.
  • Provide professional reviews, assessments, and offering expert recommendations and proposed responses to the SME.
  • Provide technical assistance and recommendations during the development, update and/or revisions of technical criteria documents.
  • This electrical support shall involve a wide variety of electrical assets/activities to include AF lightning protection systems, and grounding systems, and planning, programming, design, evaluation, management and construction issue recommendations.
  • Assist with fielding questions that come from the bases/installations.
    1. This may involve research analysis, calculations, and reports related to lightning protection, and grounding systems.
  • Assist with development, review of training plans and courses.
  • Perform site visits to assist the bases with technical issues.
  • Assist in documenting program files, organizing files and providing administrative support, such as updating and maintaining technical support resources such as CE DASH requests.
    1. Estimated tasks include providing engineer support for 25-40 AF electrical and electrical controls requirements annually.
  • Provide technical assistance and recommendations during the development, update and/or revisions of 30-45 technical documents annually (CDRL A002).
  • Provide 25-40 project reviews annually.
  • Perform 5-10 site visits annually to assist the bases with airfield, grounding and lightning protection electrical issues.
  • Assist in documenting program files, organizing files and providing administrative support, such as updating and maintaining technical support resources such as 45-60 CE DASH requests annually.
  • US Citizenship.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or higher degree in Electrical Engineering.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a minimum of five (5) years’ experience directly related to the design, repair, maintenance, construction and operation of airfield lighting, lightning protection, and grounding systems, both series and parallel systems.
  • Must have experience in analyzing electrical and electrical controls systems in order to determine the condition, vulnerability and operational capabilities of electrical infrastructure.
  • Must also be familiar with all DoD, FAA, and AF engineering policies/concepts to include:
    1. Demonstrate a minimum of five (5) years’ experience with lightning protection system design and construction.
    2. Experience with MS Office Computer software including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    3. Demonstrate the ability to travel to overseas bases with required travel documents to perform work.
  • This position must be filled with qualified individuals who can work in the Panama City area and support requirements in the AFCEC building at Tyndall AFB, FL.
  • Professional Engineer License preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 60% of the time.
  • Operate office equipment, including computer, copy machine, phone, etc.
  • Light lifting, under 10 lbs.
  • Ability to be on-site.
