Position: Center Director
Job Classification: Exempt
Reports to: County Director

Summary:

The Center Director is responsible for the overall management of the organization’s childcare and early childhood education program and its operation.
Responsibilities and Duties:

• Ensure a safe and educational environment for children
• Oversee the implementation of curriculum within the center
• Complete the enrollment process with new families
• Develop and maintain systems that support sound operating decisions
• Manage and support center staff and promote their professional development
• Evaluate and purchase materials, equipment, and supplies
• Ensure the center and its staff maintain compliance with all applicable rules, regulations, and accreditations
• Positively communicate with parents and/or families regarding their child’s progress and development, as well as center policies
• Create a weekly staff work schedule based on forecasted enrollment numbers that will ensure ratio guidelines are met at all times
• Develop a teacher observation schedule and ensure curriculum is implemented to fidelity using tools provided by curriculum coaches
• Administer annual performance evaluations for staff in a timely manner
• Provide a comprehensive orientation for new staff members
• Informally monitor staff practices and provide ongoing feedback to staff members regarding job performance.
• Demonstrate a high level of professionalism when communicating with employees, families, or outside agencies
• Create a strong culture in the center that embodies the mission of our organization

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education
• Must possess or obtain required state and federal clearances
• At least 2 years of management, supervisory, or leadership experience
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
• Exceptional leadership and organizational skills

Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time throughout the day with intermittent periods of sitting,
walking, and occasional bending
• Frequent to occasional lifting of children and/or objects up to 50 pounds
• Dexterity requirements range from coordinated movements of fingers and hands to simple movements
of feet, legs, and torso as necessary to carry out job duties
