Position Overview

Provide Customer technical service and process and product metallurgy support for the Dunkirk operations and products. Provide technical support for the sales and operations departments. Process and product quality improvement.


Shift: Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Nights & Weekends as Needed

Essential Job Functions

  • Sales Support
    1. Review inquiries and incoming orders
    2. Provide technical support for customers
    3. Review claims and material specifications
    4. Develop new product lines
    5. Review and investigate claims, write claims resolution reports
  • Operations Support
  1. Develop manufacturing plans and procedures
  2. Optimize production processes; issue process change requests
  3. Analyze rejects and non-conformities
  • QA/QC functions
  1. Develop QC test plans for orders
  2. Review test results for acceptability
  3. Release orders for shipment
  4. Maintain written procedures
  5. Oversee materials testing functions – Chemical, mechanical, NTD
  6. Assist QA Manager with internal audits
  • Record/Review Release Orders
  • Process consistency improvement
  • Product quality improvement
  • Direct efforts of Lab Technicians on specific matters.

  • Ability to communicate well with both technical and non-technical personnel.

Requirements

  • Experience with stainless and high-temperature materials.
  • Process Metallurgical experience in a steel mill environment (hot working experience preferred)
  • BS Material Science and Engineering or Metallurgy or related field.

  • Strong analytical, statistical, and communication skills
  • Problem-solving and continuous improvement skills (design of experiments, Lean, Six Sigma, 8D, etc.)
  • Statistical process control and statistical analysis
