Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs medical office functions. Supports the Objectives and Philosophy of White-Wilson Medical Center.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Answer telephones, schedule/reschedule and coordinate appointments, take and relay information and messages.
Provide pertinent information per doctor’s instructions or established clinic guidelines.
Perform required computer functions applicable to daily operations.
Check-in patient at arrival time for appointment, check patient information for completeness, i.e., address, telephone, insurance information, collect co-pays, open balances, or office visit charge for self-pay patients. Update patient information through established audit trail, patient completes update of information or is referred to Patient Accounts for account updates.
On patient’s departure, review charges within EMR for accurate charge total, charge price entered and totaled, and collect co-insurance deductibles, additional self-pay charges and open balances. Possess a working knowledge of Availity, Greenway, Intranet, Daily Transaction, McKesson, HCA Portal and TransactRX as they apply to daily operations.
Remain current on insurance and coding issues by attending provided workshops and programs as applicable.
Provide Supervisor with mail to be sorted. Assist in completing APS and Disability forms as appropriate.
Send, receive and distribute faxes.
Call patients to remind them of next day appointments as required.
Screen drug representatives to ensure providers are willing to see them.
Create a list of office supplies that need to be ordered and give to Supervisor.
Reconcile charges and payments at close of day.
Train staffing pool receptionists as needed.
Cross train to be able to work Family Practice and/or Pediatrics front area.
Maintain strict confidentiality, following HIPAA guidelines.
Consistently displays a positive attitude and a personal commitment to excellence.
Performs related duties as required.
Regular and reliable attendance required.
