Position Summary 

The Promise School Coordinator is a key full-time, grant-funded position for Partners for Rural Impact and the “Promise Neighborhood Initiative.” Reporting to the PN Program Manager, the School Coordinator will work closely with partners and school system to ensure stakeholders are adequately informed of PN activities and services, watching for duplication of services. The PSC will coordinate and integrate programming within their neighborhood school and will serve as the primary liaison to community partners; ensure partners are trained, understand their role, and implement according to their role. In addition, the PSC will work to connect students to a full continuum of supports and services including health, wellness, safety, arts and humanities, and college and career planning services.  The PSC will work to ensure the successful integration of all school, community and Promise Neighborhood student services and as such will lead a school-level partnership council that will work to align, sustain and scale community and school programs. The PSC will report to the Program Manager for Strategy and Sustainability.   The School Coordinator will work to achieve the result All Rural Students Succeed.  
 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and integrate programming within their neighborhood school  
  • Serve as primary liaison between school and community partners  
  • Work to connect students to a full continuum of supports and services including health, wellness, safety, arts and humanities, and college and career planning services.   
  • Lead a school-level partnership council that will work to align, sustain and scale community and school programs  
  • Ensure data is collected in a timely and efficient manner and provide feedback to key stakeholders  
  • Assist the Project Director and Program Manager in writing and producing required reports. 
  • Perform related duties to meet program objectives. 

 

Position Location & Schedule 

 

The Promise School Coordinator will be located primarily in Corbin Independent Schools with local, state, and sometimes national travel required. 

  

Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET with in-office, hybrid and/or remote work a possibility. Because of the nature of the responsibility to schools, partners, funders, and to the service region, individual offices or departments may have operating hours that extend beyond this period and may include evening and/or weekend hours. 


Minimum Qualifications 

 
 

Education required to ensure success in this position: 

  •  Associate degree in human services or related field 

 

Experience required to ensure success in this position: 

  • Three years of related experience or five years of experience in social services, community engagement or related field 
  • Skills and knowledge of coordinating a multi-faceted program 
  • Evidence of effectively coordinating with rural schools and rural communities 
  • Understanding of first-generation, low-income youth 
  • Familiarity with the community school model 
     

License, certification, or registration necessary: 

  • Valid driver’s license 
  • Ability to successfully complete pre-employment background check 

 

Physical requirements: 

  • Ability to work within a high-energy office 
  • Ability to travel independently by car and plane to eastern Kentucky, statewide sites, and nationally  

 

Environmental conditions: 

  • Routine office environment with interruptions and noise due to frequent visitors, students, staff and faculty 
  • Flexible schedule and ability to travel to meetings off-site
