Context: We are currently seeking a skilled Pump Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will specialize in field service, lining, and repairing various types of pumps, with a strong emphasis on centrifugal and self-priming pumps. This position requires a combination of technical knowledge, hands-on skill, and customer service ability to ensure equipment operates reliably and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues in centrifugal and self-priming pumps, along with other pump types as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance and service on pumps to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
  • Disassemble and reassemble pumps, identifying worn or damaged parts and replacing them as necessary.
  • Work closely with customers to understand their needs and provide solutions that meet or exceed expectations.
  • Test and adjust pumps after repair or installation to ensure proper operation.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to customers on the maintenance and operation of their pumps.
  • Maintain accurate records of services performed, parts used, and time spent on each job.
  • Stay updated on industry standards and advancements in pump technology and repair techniques.

Must-Have Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Pump Mechanic, with specific expertise in centrifugal and self-priming pumps.
  • Strong understanding of the mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems involved in pump operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in the field as well as part of a team when necessary.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical details to non-technical customers.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites for service calls, which may include occasional overnight stays.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various environmental conditions.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in mechanical repair is a plus.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in pump repair and maintenance, specifically with centrifugal and self-priming pumps.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Work Environment:

The Pump Mechanic will often work in field conditions, which can include industrial, construction, or municipal sites. The job may involve exposure to noisy environments, hazardous materials, and weather conditions. Safety is a priority, and appropriate protective gear and adherence to safety protocols are required.
