Title: Crane & Hoist Technician

Location: Iron Mountain, MI (Frequent Travel within Geographic Area)

Salary: $27.00/hr - $45.00/hr (Based On Experience)

 

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

• Proficient in utilizing technological expertise for tasks including electronic inspections, time tracking, email correspondence, and more across various devices such as tablets, phones, and computers.

• Skilled in the operation and troubleshooting of various crane and hoist equipment, encompassing both electrical and mechanical systems.

• Able to engage directly with customers and uphold a professional demeanor that reflects positively on both oneself and the company.

• Demonstrates responsibility in the care and maintenance of company vehicles, equipment, and time management.

• Possesses effective communication abilities to maintain regular updates with branch managers regarding job progress throughout the day.

• Requires physical fitness for duties involving standing, climbing, walking, lifting, and other related activities.

 

Must-Have’s & Preferred Qualifications:

• Possess comprehensive understanding of Federal, State, and local regulations governing overhead traveling bridge cranes and hoists.

• Conduct OSHA inspections and proactive maintenance on a wide range of overhead crane and hoist systems.

• Respond to service and repair calls, investigating operational issues, diagnosing problems, and implementing necessary repairs or adjustments to rectify malfunctions.

• Demonstrate the capability to lift weights exceeding 50lbs without restrictions.

• Execute electrical and/or mechanical adjustments or repairs, including modifications to control panels or circuitry, with or without engineered drawings, forwarding relevant data to engineering for formalized documentation.

• Adapt to challenging environmental conditions, such as heights, varied climates, and dust, maintaining professionalism and positive relations with customers while upholding the company's image.

• Collaborate effectively with fellow technicians and subcontractors, providing constructive input to enhance job performance.

• Operate autonomously, both at the service center and customer sites, adhering to professional, safe, and punctual work practices without direct supervision.

• Ensure timely and legible submission of service call reports, inspection reports, daily timecards, and other requested documentation.

• Keep customers informed of any significant discrepancies or safety concerns related to their equipment, offering recommendations for corrective actions and supporting sales efforts as needed.

• Hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, assuming responsibility for company service vehicles.

• Provide personal basic hand tools and meter while utilizing company-provided special tools for job tasks.

• Demonstrate proficiency in technology use, employing tablets, phones, and laptops for electronic inspections, work orders, and timekeeping.

• Engage with customers regarding potential additional service opportunities.

• Adhere to established company and customer safety protocols.

• Familiarize oneself with company handbook policies and procedures.
