Physician
Reports to: Medical Director
FLSA Status: Exempt
Job Summary: Provides episodic care to patients following accepted standards and protocols.
Primary Job Duties:
· Perform complete physical exams and assessments of patients including urgent, emergent and non-urgent presentation.
· Select, order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests including wet reading X-rays as appropriate.
· Analyze reports and findings of tests to diagnose patients.
· Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness and injury.
· Refers patient to PCP or specialist as appropriate.
· Perform procedures including laceration repair, I & D’s, IV, removal of foreign bodies, splinting and casting, ear irrigations.
· Explain procedures, discuss test results and prescribed treatments with patients.
· Document findings and treatment course in patient electronic medical record including follow-up notes.
· Direct professional and ancillary staff regarding treatment of patients.
· Interact with medical practices and emergency room physicians to create a cooperative atmosphere.
· Maintain up to date knowledge base for medical conditions and injuries that may present to an urgent care setting.
· Assist with training and orientating new provider staff.
· Maintain strictest confidentiality (HIPAA)
Education:
· Medical degree from accredited university either MD or DO with completion of residency program in Family Practice or Internal Medicine
with Urgent Care Experience
· Experience Med-Peds or ER
Licensure/Certifications:
· Board Eligible or Certification in Family Practice, Med-Peds, or Emergency Medicine.
· State and Federal licensure.
· DEA licensure.
· ACLS/PAL certification.
Experience:
· A minimum of two years clinical experience with pediatric and adult patients preferred.
Knowledge:
· Knowledge of medical coding.
· Knowledge of the principles and practice of urgent care medicine.
· Knowledge of the principles and practice of occupational health, DOT exams
Skills:
· Competent with common PC applications including Internet, Email and Microsoft Office.
· Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
· Excellent customer service skills
