Quality Test Technician II

MAGNITUDE OF POSITION:

The Quality Test Technician II supports the team and activities relating to quality and process improvement for the manufacturing site in Sterling, Illinois.

ENVIRONMENT OF POSITION:

A manufacturing facility of control transformers in which teamwork, respect, and integrity is espoused. Works closely with Design Engineering, Quality, Production, and Materials to ensure items are manufactured in a timely manner and according to specifications. Functions independently in a multi-task environment, as well as part of a team. Works in an office and manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels and typical manufacturing conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-year degree in electronics or equivalent experience
  • Must understand basic electricity principles.
  • Must have the ability to use Microsoft Office products to update documents, forms, charts, and graphs.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a friendly ability to work with others under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to use measurement skills.
  • Detail Oriented.
  • Meticulous housekeeping skills to maintain and coach on a clean and safe workspace.
  • Technical aptitude with willingness to learn and familiarity with Micron products and production processes.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to read, interpret and update documents that contain technical data like travelers and blueprints etc.
  • Organization and planning skills, with emphasis on electronic records and retrieval.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Requires ability to set up lab test equipment and test parts using provided part drawings and specifications in a timely manner.
  • Test schedules and test projects assigned are required to be performed to meet scheduled due dates.
  • Time use requirements require multitasking to achieve multiple results simultaneously.
  • Progress reports and test results need to be on-going and kept within a format that is understandable by the recipient and approved by the QA Supervisor/Coordinator.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

  • Perform validation and verification testing on products, parts, and materials under the general direction of the Quality Supervisor and/or Quality Manager.
  • Assist and provide back-up coverage duties of the Quality Manager and Quality Auditors during vacation or other periods of absenteeism.
  • Perform daily duties to keep and ensure that the QA test lab is clean and orderly.
  • Test schedules and test projects assigned are required to be performed to meet scheduled due dates.
  • Maintaining the Integrity of the manual and automated testers.
  • Test returned materials (RMA) and process results through ERP on a weekly schedule.
  • Process testing of AN's to current at the end of every-week.
  • Identity root cause for RMA returns and develop actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Improve safety by investigating, suggesting, and implementing fixtures or other apparatus to prevent accidental electrical shock or other injury.
  • Report tests findings / results through use of MS Word, Excel, or other prescribed method.
  • Prepare and update project timelines and schedule milestones when applicable.
  • Provide investigation to determine root causes of excessive production yield fallout and suggest corrective action.
  • Assist Quality Manager in programming of test equipment including production test equipment.
  • Work with plant personnel to ensure electrical testing is being performed correctly.
  • Provide assistance to plant team leaders to help resolve quality related and test failure issues.
  • Assist manufacturing and quality in the support of resolution of production issues that result from documentation, design, and label issues.
  • Follow safety rules and OSHA guidelines when performing tests.
  • Participate in other quality department activities including internal audits or production auditor substitution.
  • Manage calibration system.
  • Keep all electronic test equipment in good working order.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
