CH2M HILL BWXT West Valley, LLC (CHBWV) is the prime contractor selected by the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Phase 1 – Facility Disposition Project at the West Valley Demonstration Project. The site is a scenic 30-minute drive south of Buffalo, New York. In cooperation with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, CHBWV continues to decontaminate and decommission facilities at this site.

We are a premier employer in the Western New York and southern-tier areas. The Internship Program is an 8-10 week program with a 4-day workweek (10 hours per day).


JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE OF POSITION

The goal of our internship program is to provide hands-on practical experience. Intern opportunities are determined based on business need and role availability with consideration to your skills and development goals. As part of the CHBWV team, your assignments could include a role focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field of study.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education/Experience:
  • Currently working on completion of Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited program in an engineering, science, construction management or information technology field of study.
  • Other majors encouraged to apply:
    1. Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering
    2. Computer Science
    3. Physics, Health Physics
    4. Biology, Geology
    5. Construction Management
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to receive guidance and problem solve.
  • A previous internship related to your field of study.
  • Self-driven time management and organizational skills.
  • Other Requirements
    • Must be at least a rising Junior.
    • Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Strong aptitude for learning new processes and technologies.
    • Strong technical skills based on area of study and the ability to apply those skills in a work environment.
    • Highly creative with initiative and drive.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work as a team member and as an individual.
    • Candidate must exhibit a professional behavior that promotes teamwork, fosters cooperation, and enhances productivity in the workplace.
    • Must be well organized with the ability to coordinate, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Candidate must be able to interface effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
    • Prepare a Final Presentation for the Staff Managers at the end of the internship depicting internship experience and accomplished projects.
