The Hometown Current has an immediate opening for a full-time sports journalist with strong reporting and photography skills. We are a collection of four weekly publications serving all of Iowa County, western Poweshiek County, southern Benton County and northern Keokuk County from our office in Marengo, although your “office” will primarily be in the gyms, on the fields and around the tracks of the schools we cover. Primary responsibilities will include covering high school athletics for multiple school districts. That will include game preview & recap stories, reporting on special sport related events and accomplishments throughout our coverage area and feature stories about area teams, student-athletes and community members, plus other duties as assigned. We will expect our Sports Reporter to be present and visible at sporting events.
