SUMMARY: The position will deliver excellent results by effectively planning, organizing, scheduling and ensuring the timely delivery of freight while developing and growing supplier relationships for the purpose of improving profitability. The right candidate will have a proven track record of providing superior customer service, on-time service delivery and maximizing profitability. Oversee a staff of three or more people.


Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects (e.g., resolving complaints, reviews, discipline, payroll, schedules, terminations) related to drivers, dispatch, maintenance and shipping & receiving).
  • Ensure all fleet maintenance programs are current on tractors and trailers.
  • Track and account for driver and tractor utilization with daily reports.
  • Report performance metrics KPI reports and identify actions to improve.
  • Actively engage with necessary departments (e.g., HR, accounting, dispatch, maintenance, customers) to ensure smooth operations.
  • Ensure equipment and drivers are in place to provide on-time service and meet the demands of the customer.
  • Analyze customer volume projections to forecast staffing requirements.
  • Manage all aspects of record keeping (e.g., logs, maintenance records, BOL’s)
  • Off-site on-call duty, nights and weekends
  • Responsible to identify, report, and investigate equipment damage, identify and charge responsible parties as appropriate.
  • Bill for extraneous expenses occurred including but not limited to trailer shuttles, detention, and hourly labor.
  • Train new employees and provide ongoing training to current employees.
  • Monitor driver hours to ensure compliance with DOT laws, collect and maintain log records.
  • Interview and hire operations employees including but not limited to drivers, dispatch, and maintenance employees.
  • Maintain safety and compliance of terminal and personnel in accordance with company policy and other regulatory agencies.
  • Reconcile weekly contract drivers invoices
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a driver dispatcher or experience in the transportation, or logistics industry
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations affecting CDL drivers preferred
  • Familiarity with MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Ability to work independently and solve problems with little direction
  • Must be located within reasonable driving distance to the plant located at 1299 Duncan Road, Ward SC 29166.
