Manufacturing Engineer – Aerospace Staffing Technologies has partnered with a leading manufacturer within the Aerospace industry with a focus on designing and manufacturing cutting edge protective armor systems, medical transportation solutions, and interior products for both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. This established and growing business is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join their innovative and collaborative team. As the Composites Manufacturing Engineer, you will be the primary focal for manufacturing process development and the source of all manufacturing instructions that the production team will use for material handling, layup, cure, and assembly of aerospace composite assemblies. The engineer will use their strong knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices of composites manufacturing in a production environment. Essential Functions: Acts as a liaison between Engineering and Manufacturing teams. Define bill of materials and manufacturing routing steps in ERP/MRP. Define manufacturing steps and tooling designs to support all manufacturing processes. Create and track product launch plan with program management and production teams Utilize Solidworks system to support manufacturing engineering duties. Ability to to design ply patterns and program automated ply fabric cutters preferred. Review customer process specifications and ensure product compliance. Understand prepreg material curing requirements and methods. Problem solving production issues and continuous process improvement to reduce manufacturing hours per unit and quality of products will be required. Develop and support repair requirements for parts and tools. Understands the MRB process. Act as engineering’s MRB member. Other duties may be assigned. Job Specifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities): Ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees and managers. Ability to convey a professional and positive image to guests and customers. Ability to comprehend and apply principles of calculus, with analytic geometry in solving engineering issues. Ability to apply principles of logical and scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Ability to comprehend and apply engineering principles to plan, monitor, and execution of production requirements. This may include analysis of technical data using statistics, mathematical, and graphical methods. Command of theoretical and practical prepreg layup, curing, and assembly methods is required. Practical application of blueprint and 3D model symbology in a manufacturing environment is required. Education, Certifications and Experience: Must be a US Person Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. Minimum five years’ experience in composite fabrication, metallic materials, manufacturing methods/processes. Tooling/fixtures design and fabrication experience.
