Position: Graphic Designer

Department: Marketing

Campus: North Manchester

Target Hire Date: ASAP

Position Overview: Reporting to the director of marketing, the graphic designer/mail services manager designs University marketing pieces and coordinates mailings going to a service bureau.

Essential job functions:

Responsibilities of the graphic designer include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Designs University publications, print materials, including the Manchester Magazine, ads, brochures, billboards, banners, forms, posters, invitations, advancement solicitations, web graphics, digital screen graphics, newsletters, emails, recruiting materials, etc., and prepares electronic files for printing
  • Maintains consistency with the University’s specifications for graphic identity and grammar guidelines and proofs copy
  • Consults with customers with design needs and follows projects through to completion
  • Provides appropriate file formats to customers and outside printers as needed and maintains project files
  • Maintains a selection of paper samples and stays current on paper trends
  • Works with outside vendors to request project quotes; relays to customer and attains approval
  • Coordinates University mailings with outside service bureau; analyzes mail piece design for cost savings and postal requirements; keeps updated on postal regulations; reconciles standard (bulk) mail permits monthly; and is responsible for replenishing funds for outside permits
  • Organizes marketing photo shoots and the scheduling of other marketing events as needed
  • Designs and supervises installation of branded displays on Manchester’s campuses
  • Enters and tracks jobs on PrintSmith, the shop management tracking and billing system when needed.
  • Participates with Marketing team in project discovery sessions

Qualifications:

  • A commitment to fostering an environment of diversity and inclusion among students, faculty, and staff
  • Post-secondary education preferred or three years’ experience in graphic design.
  • Organized, accurate, self-motivated, and detail oriented and able to work independently
  • Able to multitask and be comfortable handling numerous interruptions; at the same time performing tasks that will ensure quality work completed in a timely manner
  • Proficient in page layout and design applications
  • Strong computer skills as well as strong oral and written communication skills
  • A team player
  • Trustworthy with knowledge of confidential University business data
  • Relates well to people from all areas, representing the University in a professional manner
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule to meet the demands of the University
