EVS Environmental Services Night Shift Lead - Full Time

RETENTION BONUS - $1,000.00

POSITION SUMMARY:

Leads the Environmental Services department under the guidance of the EVS Supervisor. Assists the EVS staff in the cleanliness of the hospital. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Leads the EVS staff and resolves issues that arise; particularly when the EVS Supervisor is not onsite.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education Preferred:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education/experience preferred.

Certification Preferred:

  • CHEST (Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician) preferred or obtained within first year of employment.

Minimum Work Experience Required:

  • Previous cleaning experience required, preferably in the hospital setting.

Other Requirement:

  • Current Nevada or California Driver's License with clean driving record required.
  • Must be available to work various shifts.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend the English language.
  • Must have basic computer skills and be able to access and respond to CVH email.

POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Basic EVS Duties

  • Dust furniture, woodwork, equipment and dust mop floors.
  • Polishes and cleans fixtures in utility rooms.
  • Wet mops rooms, halls and public areas.
  • Shampoos rugs and furniture and operates mechanical floor cleaners, polishers and vacuums.
  • Cleans fixtures, tops of windows, door frames, vents and high areas using a ladder.
  • Cleans and disinfects all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors and walls of bathrooms.
  • Ensures that carts and closets are locked.
  • Ensures the safe handling, proper use and storage of hospital chemicals.

Departmental Support

  • Maintains occupied patient rooms through daily cleaning and restocking of all disposable supplies.
  • Performs terminal cleaning of patient rooms and prepares room for new occupant.
  • Cleans and disinfects all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, doors and walls of patient care bathrooms.
  • Cleans and disinfects all other areas of the organization.
  • Cleans wheelchairs and gurneys.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Staff coaching and procedure correction are done on a timely basis and in a professional manner.
  • Ensure all staff understands the culture and history of our organization as well as the strategic goals.
  • Create a workplace environment where staff is working toward the same essential goals and strategies; provide open communication where ideas can be shared in a non-punitive environment.
  • Provide effective communication process between administration, management, and staff i.e. staff meetings, communication books, communication boards.
  • Works under the EVS Supervisor and serves as the leadership for the department; particularly when the Supervisor is not onsite.
  • Inspects all CVH properties for cleanliness.
  • Attends EVS department meetings.
  • Covers for sick/vacation needs.
  • Adjusts staff work assignment when needed to respond to sick calls or vacation coverage.
  • Trains/orients new staff as a preceptor.
  • Audits and coaches staff to follow CHEST standards.
  • Manages department resources and tasks such as linen stocking, trash removal, prioritization of cleaning and disinfection, etc.
