Reporting to the Vice President of Global Supply Chain Operations, Novavax is currently seeking a Senior Director, Global Logistics and Material Management to oversee and manage the company's logistics strategy and operations globally, including cold chain requirements, across warehousing, distribution, fulfillment, transportation, packaging, inventory management, customs and trade compliance. The role is responsible for driving a culture of continuous improvement to ensure all goods are stored in compliance and delivered in a timely, cost effective and efficient manner in all logistics activities through internal facilities, contract manufacturers and 3rd party logistics, warehousing and transportation providers. The Senior Director is a highly visible role that serves on the Global Supply Chain Leadership team and is responsible for driving projects with aggressive timelines and high business impact supporting critical vaccination season timelines.

Essential Functions

• Leads strategy and oversight for all Supply Chain Logistics for Import/Export and Global Logistics E2E processes (ground/air/ocean) for Global Warehousing, Transportation and Materials management
• Design, develop, implement and continually evolve tactical, operational and strategic Global Logistics and Material Management processes to ensure global sales orders are On-Time and In-Full
• Identify opportunities for improvement, develop strategies, and implement business processes and/or infrastructure to enhance the Global Logistics and Material Management function to deliver exceptional customer service level while optimizing cost to deliver.
• Defines External Distribution Center hubs, 3PL/4PL inbound/outbound strategy and deployment
• Directs and oversees strategy for inbound and outbound shipments, inventory controls, and internal/external warehouse capacity for clinical and commercial manufacturing, development and QC labs needs.
• Oversee intra/inter-company transactions, invoices and workstreams for geographic and country-specific requirements
• Responsible for Supplier Relationship Management for CMOs/carriers for continuous improvement, cost savings and strategy development / execution
• Ensure validated processes and systems for Logistics and Materials Management
• Knowledge of Logistics technologies and trends, including understanding of business-related activities such as freight auditing, trade compliance, control tower monitoring, and product security.
• Hire, train and develop Global Logistics and Materials Management team including succession planning
• Manage staff and operations to support global network activities between Novavax Inc and global sites
• Mentors, provides motivational thought and technical leadership to develop strategies and initiatives to implement processes and systems that improve quality, optimize cost structure, minimize regulatory risk and improve customer satisfaction
• Oversee ,review and evaluate team performance to ensure quality and timeliness and ensure quality control in adherence to policies and procedures
• Identify cost drivers and deliver cost savings and quality improvements
• Creates logistics and materials management performance and analytical KPIs to reflect effectiveness and department measurements with continuous improvement plans to performance, responsiveness, cost, OTIF and customer service.
• Enhance cross-functional alignment with internal and external partners to implement Supply Chain recommendations, solutions and process improvements
• Ensure adherence to policies and procedures to support team performance
• Manage department budget and performance targets

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Hire, train and develop Global Logistics and Materials Management team including succession planning
• Manage staff and operations to support global network activities between Novavax Inc and global sites
• Mentors, provides motivational thought and technical leadership to develop strategies and initiatives to implement processes and systems that improve quality, optimize cost structure, minimize regulatory risk and improve customer satisfaction
• Oversee ,review and evaluate team performance to ensure quality and timeliness and ensure quality control in adherence to policies and procedures

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Experience managing distribution, logistics and transportation in a regulated and validated cold chain environment
• Minimum of 10 years' experience managing supplier/customer relationships
• Significant Experience with ERP systems and implementation of ERP processes
• Dynamic, pragmatic, and passionate with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience leading in a culture of accountability
• Ability to hire, develop and retain talent
• Committed to expanding technical and business expertise
• Strong collaboration, partnering, influence and negotiation skills
• Significant experience with Project Management: tools, techniques, brainstorming, problem-solving and promoting analytically driven solutions.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, on multiple projects simultaneously with limited direct supervision
• Supply Chain and Project Management certifications preferred

Education, Experience, Licenses & Certifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business or Supply Chain Management
• Minimum of 10+ years' experience in a supply chain/logistics management role (pharmaceutical, medical device, or biotechnology industry experience preferred)
