Care of the plants/plant health is a very important part of our business. Cranberries (Vaccinium macrocarpon) are a low-growing perennial evergreen woody vine. We are currently actively engaged in working with the UW-Madison/USDA breeding programs. We are also heavily involved in the UW research program and its researchers. Growing cranberries is agricultural and like other agricultural commodities, is hands-on. It entails analytical, proactive observation.

If this excites you, Cranberry Creek Cranberries is currently looking for a Plant Health Manager/Horticulturist/Ag Scientist to support our growing operation. The successful candidate will work out of Cranberry Creek’s Main office location north of Necedah, WI, and manage our Marsh Managers team and Horticultural/Plant Health activities.

Compensation:

$45,000 - $70,000 yearly DOE

Responsibilities:
  • Manage/Collaborate with the Marsh Managers daily in making the best Plant health decisions
  • Implement Production programs such as Nutrition, Moisture, Pest, and Cultural practices
  • Observe and analyze plants and conditions that will lead to maximum productivity
  • Organize and manage data for plant-related records
  • Implement Level 10 meetings and track/follow up with priority actions weekly
  • Oversee IPM (Integrated Pest Management) Program
  • Review and approve pesticide use and report to handlers for the sale of fruit
  • Collaborate with Industry Researchers and Experts to progress research in the realm of physiology, genetics, pathology, and all other plant-related disciplines
  • Attend Grower Industry meetings, workshops, and gatherings
  • Participate in managing the company's practices in relation to producing and delivering the crop
  • Analyze future opportunities in other crop opportunities
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in agricultural sciences, pest management, crop management, soil science, or science-related discipline preferred, but equivalent direct experience is also accepted
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suites
  • Good problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Must be self-directed and independently motivated
