POSITION PURPOSE

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Biogas Compressor Technician performs skilled work that is necessary to maintain a dairy all anaerobic digester conditioning skid, and upgrader compressors in like new condition. The facility is composed of a digester, pumps, gas blowers, compressors, oxygen generators, condensers, chillers and related auxiliary equipment. Biogas compressor technician works with gas compression equipment to transfer, compress and recover different types of gases. Responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and operating compressors

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform routine, preventative maintenance, and repairs on rotary screw and reciprocating air compressors and all ancillary equipment relevant to the operation of those compressors.
  • Ensure all compressor preventive maintenance requirements are captured in CMMS and can be scheduled on periodic schedule.
  • Conduct sufficient operator training that they can maintain, repair, and recondition industrial compressors, air compression systems and in line dryers on location.
  • Assist with new installation, plumbing, and start up on compressors as well as air dryers.
  • Perform as a compressor troubleshooting technician for both high and low pressure compressors.
  • Field compressor technician responsible for the performance of maintenance and repair of all company compressors.
  • Install and provide maintenance on industrial sized gas and air compressors.
  • Generate repair work orders that address the deficiencies in the need of correction on industrial compressors.
  • Align with Maintenance Planner to ensure sufficient critical spares and required consumables are maintained in the warehouse to minimize downtime.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT

Performance will be assessed 90 days after initial hire, and then annually after that. Plant Operations will be measured against plant operating efficiency, uptime (reliability), and cost expectations. The successful operator will be measured against adherence to company policy and ability to drive sustained efficiency through personal effort, communication, teamwork, and ability to leverage external resources.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Relevant maintenance and operating experience in an industrial or gas processing environment is desired.
    1. Operational experience may be supplemented with military experience or training in a related field.
  2. A relevant background in safety procedures/practices
  3. Able to quickly respond to rapidly changing conditions.
  4. Able to read, write and understand English is required. Spanish as a second language desired.
  5. Able to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings
  6. Able to analyze and interpret data and to make sound recommendations on plant conditions.
  7. Fundamental proficiency in Windows-based applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel) on a PC or tablet required.
  8. Valid drivers license and ability to operate a motor vehicle in California is required

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work locations are industrial and agricultural, primarily outdoors in the central valley of California. Temperatures range from 40 deg F in the winter to 115 deg F in the summer. Limited exposure to hazardous materials and/or toxic fumes will require the use of approved personal protective equipment. Regular exposure to heat, noise, flammable materials, rotating equipment, and other conditions normally encountered in an industrial environment should be expected. California Bioenergy will ensure all applicable work rules and safety requirements are closely adhered to.

This position will require heavy lifting (<50 lbs) and/or climbing ladder and/or stairs.
