Job Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE:Oversees the day-to-day activities, issues lock and key related work orders to crews, and oversees job completion. Provide technical knowledge and assistance on all repair issues pertaining to locksmith work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- High School graduate or GED equivalent from an accredited institution (required)
- Must have valid Texas driver's license
- Maintain a satisfactory driving record that meets the standards of the District's insurance policy
- Demonstrates the ability to perform responsibilities under general supervision.
- Demonstrates knowledge, ability, and skills related to Locksmith work.
- Demonstrates leadership and motivational skills to provide work direction to Locksmith personnel on a daily basis.
- Demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position.
- Written and oral communication skills are required for planning, submitting, inspecting, evaluating and completing Locksmith repair and maintenance work.
- Demonstrates skills in accurate record keeping and computer database management, including work orders and material procurement.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Plans, assigns, schedules, and oversees the work of locksmiths engaged in installation, preventative maintenance, routine maintenance, and emergency repair of District locks and related systems
- Conducts periodic inspections and gives on-site supervision over hazardous or unusual work assignments
- Inspect the work performed by locksmith employees and work performed by contract services.
- Communicate and coordinates with principals, department heads, custodians, supervisors, contractors, and vendors in scheduling variously related repairs.
- Assures availability of equipment, materials, and supplies
- Initiates requisitions for tools, parts, and equipment
- Estimates time and material cost required for special projects
- Trains personnel in the safe operation of equipment and tools
- Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle
- Routine observation of locksmith's work assignments
- Assists in the coverage of absences and the training of new employees.
- Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or anyone in his line of authority
Equipment Used: all the following hand tools and power tools associated with the locksmith trade, but not limited to drills saws, hammer drills, pneumatic and electric man lifts, scaffolds ladders, basic hand tools, electronic test equipment, etc.
Environment: Will work in, under, around, and outside all AISD facilities. The employee will be exposed to all environmental conditions found in this region of Texas.
Physical Demands: Continuous lifting, climbing, reaching, stooping.

Normal working hours: Eight-hour workday schedule, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Work hours and work days may be adjusted to serve district needs (Holidays, Breaks, and Summer Schedule).
